English Objective: Students will be able to show they know the writing process by performing well on a pop-quiz and work to develop and show their personal thoughts on heroism, prior to reading To Kill a Mockingbird and analzying the role of heroism in the novel.
English Objective: Students will be able to make connections in their own lives to the theme of “Never Again” from our study of Elie Wiesel’s Night.
English Objective: Students will be able to understand plot, character, and theme development in Act I of the Crucible by reading, discussing, responding to, and watching Act I.
English Objective: Students will be able to gain a deeper appreciation and understanding for why Elie wrote his memoir, Night, by (reading/analyzing/discussing/responding) to both his “This I Believe” essay written for NPR and his new preface to Night in the most recently published translation of his memoir.
English Objective: Students will be able to understand important background information about Elie Wiesel and the Holocaust in preparation for reading Night.
